Plein Air: Garrett Park Golden Hours

Paint this charming town as the sun is low in the sky and shadows are long.  Beautifully maintained and historic Victorian homes dot this hilly town next to the railroad and close to Kensington and Bethesda.  We will meet at the parking lot in front of Black Market Bistro and paint.  After you sign up, you are welcome to join us for one or two sessions.

Location:  4600 Waverly Avenue, Garrett Park, MD 20896

Directions: If you are driving on 355, take Strathmore Avenue (east); make a left onto Kenliworth Avenue at a light; veer right onto Waverly Avenue and your destination is the parking lot in front of Black Market Bistro and Waverly Park.

If you are driving on Connecticut Avenue, take Knowles Avenue (west) away from Kensington.  It will turn into Strathmore Avenue.  Make a right onto Kenliworth Avenue at a light, veer right onto Waverly Avenue and your destination is the parking lot in front of Black Market Bistro and Waverly Park.

Number of registrants: Up to 20 members and guests (Members may bring 1 guest.)

What to expect: 

We will check in at the parking lot.  Water provided.  Dress in layers as it might be chilly.  Mittens and hat recommended. Please stay on sidewalks and not in roadways where you could be injured. Expect beautiful architecture and a charming, old fashioned town.

We will return to check in spot around 5:30 for a group photo and an informal look-see-chat about our efforts. 

What to bring:  Paints, Substrate, Easel, Stool, Water

Getting there: This location is accessible by car only.  If you'd like to try to find a ride or carpool with other participants, please post a note in our members-only Facebook group.

Parking:  Please park only in designated parking areas.
