Theme:  Celebrating Women and their Art

The Goldman Gallery at the Bender Jewish Community Center is honoring Women's History Month by inviting MAA to collaborate on a new art exhibition to celebrate woman artists.

MAA is excited to offer women members a unique opportunity to be considered to showcase a collection of their works -- Artists submission of their collection is intended to give us insight into the artists style and overall message.  Artists will be required to submit at least 5 but no more than 6 artworks to comprise their collection.  Please note, that up to 2 works in the artists collection may not be for sale. Artists collections will be juried by professional artist and instructor Carol Lee Thompson.  The result will be at least ten artists whose collections will be displayed.

Prospectus: Please refer to the SHOW PROSPECTUS for all show requirements. 

Eligible media: Oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, pastel, encaustic, hand pulled prints, drawing/ink mediums, fiber art, glass or tile mosaic, photography (identify photograph as limited edition or unlimited edition), and 3D sculpture.  

Requirements:   

  • Number of Artworks & Size:  Woman artists must submit at least 5 but no more than 6 artworks to comprise their collection.  Up to 2 works in a collection may not be for sale. Large artwork will be limited to 48" on any one side.  Artists collections must fit into  7'w x 6' h wall space.  There will be a total of up to 60 pieces in this show, to include sculpture.   Sculpture will be displayed on pedestals or hung within the allotted space. 
  • Artist Statement:  The artist’s work will be accompanied by a statement of their artistic journey, inspiration, and aspirations that will be displayed alongside the artwork. Artist statement is part of the registration form.  
  • Cost:  There is no cost to submit your collections for consideration.  Selected artists will pay a show fee of $10.

Volunteers:  We will be seeking volunteers for this show.  Please indicate on your registration form if you are available for:

  • Art Drop Off 
  • Exhibit Curation
  • Reception 
  • Reception photographer
  • Art Pick Up

Membership: You must be a Montgomery Art Association member in good standing to enter this show.

About the Goldman Art Gallery: Focusing on meaningful, inclusive exhibits depicting experiences, identity, and culture.  The Goldman Gallery is a warm and welcoming space.
