April Member Conversation: with National award-winning Fiber Artist Melinda Lowy

Location: Kensington Park Library, 4201 Knowles Ave, Kensington, MD 

Melinda Lowy is a national award-winning   fiber artist and is actively involved in local art quilt scene and has exhibited nationally. She has a studio at Artists & Makers Studios in Rockville, MD. She is a member of Surface Design Association and Studio Art Quilts Associates. Locally she is a member of Potomac Fiber Arts Guild and Fiber Art Study Group. She previously served as Treasurer for the Surface Design Association and also as Chair of its Website Committee. She resides in Silver Spring, MD with her husband and two cats. She is retired from a career at a non-profit scientific society, where she managed their higher education programs.

She will talk about her creative process, the specific techniques she uses, her inspirations, and how she wants the viewer to interact with her art.
