with Jennifer Kahn Barlow
You’ve Created the Art—Now Let’s Build the Business

“Making Your Mark” is a fun and informative workshop designed to help artists navigate the business side of their creative careers. You'll learn how to enter the art market on your own terms, define your niche, and build a compelling digital presence. We'll cover the essentials of an artist CV, strategies for fostering relationships and getting press, plus insider tips on approaching galleries with confidence. You'll also gain practical knowledge on setting up back-end systems to keep your art business running smoothly. Whether you're just starting out or looking to level up, this workshop will give you the tools to thrive!

                            

What to bring:

  • Please bring paper and pen to take notes, along with a basic inventory of your art and sales (if any) thus far.

Member Fee: $30 per MAA member registration fee. Participants must be 18 years or older.

Open exclusively for members and their guests through March 25, after which non-members can also register. The fee for guests is $40.


Non-member Fee: $40 per non-MAA member registration fee. Participants must be 18 years or older. Registration will be open to the public starting on March March 26.

Workshop Limit: Total number of participants for this workshop is 30.

Workshop Instructor: Jennifer Kahn Barlow is a seasoned artist with over 15 years in the Washington, DC, arts scene, known for her vibrant and whimsical paintings of sweets. She has been represented by numerous galleries, shown her work in venues across the mid-Atlantic and been featured in publications such as Professional Artist Magazine and The Washington Post. With a keen eye for color and composition, she has carved out a niche in the art world, capturing the charm of confections with rich textures and dynamic brushwork. Passionate about both creativity and the business of art, she continues to exhibit and inspire fellow artists to build successful careers on their own terms.
