About the presentation:

Poonam Malpani is a  dance crazy color freak, a people hugger, a smiler and a lover. Ever since she was young, she remembers being an artist, which made her rely very heavily on her intuition in both life and in art. Settled in Paris, she has an Art studio where she practices many forms of art like painting, body painting, mixed media, art recycling, murals and dance because art comes to her most effortlessly. What excites her is the joy of creating something that does not already exist in the world. She believes each piece of art carries lifelike energies of its creator, and to her, that is pure magic.

The artist was born in Calcutta, India, and relocated to Paris with her husband and son in her 20s. For the past 14 years, she has called Paris home, and for the past 8 years, she has been dedicated to her work as a full-time artist. Her early life was marked by a strong affinity for sports, art, and dance, and growing up in a family of artists (her father was the owner of a Sari printing factory) further fostered her interest in the arts. This led her to pursue Fashion Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in India, where she excelled and was awarded a Gold Medal by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India, for her outstanding performance at a national level. She continued to nurture her passion for art and was selected to represent India at the UNESCO Art Camp in Andorra in 2014, resulting in the creation of three art pieces that are now part of UNESCO's permanent collection.

About Her Talk

She would love to share her journey as an artist from Calcutta to Paris, how she has never spent a day without creation, how art helps her heal her traumas, be in touch with her higher self and understand energy better. She will discuss milestones and tips and tricks to stay motivated to create art, as it is a necessity in our lives because it heals us in ways we cannot fathom.
