Plein Air Paint-Out: Under the Sycamore

You are invited to meet the MAA Plein Air Committee members, to paint along with some seasoned plein air artists, and to enjoy the beauty of centuries old Sycamore as you paint it! We are gathering for a very special session of MAA Plein Air Painting at the Cabin John Regional Park. It has been a hot favorite with MAA plein Air Artists and this time we are holding our Annual In-Person Plein Air Meeting to plan for the activities for 2023-24. Please join the fun with your ideas, suggestions, and all that is needed to paint and carry a painting of the Old Sycamore home. Light snacks will be served.

Where: Assemble in the parking of Pauline Betz Eddie Tennis Court, 7801 Democracy Boulevard, Bethesda, MD 20817

When:  Friday, July 21, 2023 

Time: From 10:00am to 3:00pm

Place for meet and greet: Under the Sycamore. Walk down the trail behind the Tennis Center towards the Creek and you will find the Old Sycamore. Follow the trail of MAA flags to find your way or look for one of the Committee Members.

Timing of outing:

10am to 2pm: Artists paint

2pm to 3pm: Picnic, 'Show and Tell', Sharing ideas for future plein air events.

What to bring:  All painting supplies and equipment, bug spray is good to carry though there are no bugs yet in the park, rain boots are good as parts of the Creek have wet mud. Please carry water, trash bag, and keep your cell phone charged.

What to expect: Plenty to paint near the Picnic Shed if you wish to stay close to dry area/Restrooms. A short walk downhill, towards the creek, will take you to the old trees and lush green forest, waiting to be painted!
