Kensington is celebrating all that its vibrant community has become since the first train arrived in Kensington via the Metropolitan Line of the B & O Railroad in 1873! Join the Memorial weekend Paint-out to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the MET with your plein air painting and a gallery show!
For the 150th celebration, Montgomery Art Association joins hands with the Kensington Historical Society and invites artists to a Paint Out on Sunday, May 28 and Monday, May 29, to capture the scenes, people, and activities of a celebratory weekend in Kensington.
Registration is open to all MAA Members and Guests. If you are not yet member of MAA, please contact: historyofkensington@gmail.com for your registration.
Easels may be set up in any of the ten parks in Kensington (see the map on the link below), and on town sidewalks by points of interest, provided they do not obstruct pedestrian. Map of the Town of Kensington 2019.pdf
What to expect: Two full days of painting the Anniversary celebrations in the Town followed by a Gallery Show.

Time: 9.30 am to 5.00 pm
Registration dates: Registration starts Wednesday, May 10, 2023. It ends Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 11:59 pm ET.
No Entry Fee
Restrooms: Restrooms are available: On Sunday and Monday at BabyCat Brewery (noon to 5 pm) and on Monday at Kensington Train Station from 10 am to 5 pm.
Parking: Available. Parking is recommended at Kensington Town Hall, 3710 Mitchell St, Kensington, MD 20895. For other parking options please see the Parking Map on the link below:

What to bring: Please bring everything you need for the day, including art supplies, equipment, food, water, and trash bag. Please leave the site cleaner than you found!
In case of Rain: Please find a window during the two days when it stops raining and paint then!
Gallery Show: If you would like to submit your framed completed work for the gallery show, please send an email indicating your commitment to historyofkensington@gmail.com with your name and contact details from Thursday, June 1, and places will be assigned on a first come first served basis. Completed artwork must be dropped off, framed, wired, and with accompanying label, no later than June 19th.
