 About our presenter

Roxana Rojas-Luzon is a contemporary artist born in Peru. She moved to the United States in 2002. She is fascinated by the art of collage, which she studies independently, started exploring this technique in 2000. Her first solo show in  Maryland-US was held in 2014.
Besides Maryland, she has exhibited her work in Virginia, Washington DC, New York, North Carolina, and Cordoba-Argentina. Many of her pieces have been acquired by private collectors in Germany, Peru, Italy, and the United States.

Roxana began to explore the art of collage when she first became pregnant. Toxic paint fumes could have harmed her unborn child. Glue and paper provided the freedom to create light, motion, and contrast in her pictures.

Today, 21 years later, she continues to be fascinated by the art of collage and mixed media, and uses snippets of magazine paper, fabric, embroidery, paper painted by her children or by herself, photographs, and anything that enriches the texture and color of her images.

Her inspiration comes from having ten older sisters and brothers, traveling as a journalist around the world, and raising two girls.  She expresses festivity, love, consolation, protection, and solitude in abstract and representational artworks.

In 2021 and 2022 she was in charge of curating the Hispanic Heritage Month, invited by the City of Frederick. In 2022, she was also invited to curate the Hispanic Heritage Art Exhibition at Frederick College.

Currently, she is a member of Artists on Market and the Art League of

Germantown  (ALOG) . She is the owner and instructor at We Art Fun Painting Studio, in Germantown, MD. Also, a former member of Montgomery Art Association  (MAA) , The Latino Art League of Washington DC ( TLAL ), and Artists & Makers Studios /Gallery 209 .
