Weather is great! Let’s step out and paint!! This month we’ll be exploring the Woodend Nature Sanctuary. It is a peaceful 40-acre oasis with wildflower meadows, meandering woodland, hiking trails, and is a well-known location for bird watching. You might even want to paint the beauty of the historic Georgian Mansion. The Mansion was bequeathed to the Audubon Naturalist Society, provided it was kept as a nature sanctuary. The Audubon Naturalist Society inspires residents of the greater Washington, DC, region to appreciate, understand, and protect their natural environment through outdoor experiences, education, and advocacy.
What to expect:
Enjoy the serenity of meadows and woodland trails, visit the native plant gardens, and explore the aquatic life. Also, don’t miss the wonderful selection in the Woodend Nature Shop, that is housed in the Mansion. If the weather gets too cold for your liking, you can make use of the Library and sketch the taxidermy birds.
Please bring all the supplies needed for painting/sketching, your favorite drink/water, packed lunch, and insect repellant spray/wipes.
Dress up warm and in layers. Carry hand warmers and gloves if weather is too cold for your liking. Sturdy shoes and hats recommended. Can get windy.
