Call for Applications: Teach a 2022 Workshop at Oasis

MAA will again produce our popular exhibition at the Oasis Gallery in Bethesda this January-April. The Oasis Gallery is within the Macy’s Home Store in Montgomery Mall and is home to the nonprofit Washington Metropolitan Oasis, which provides classes, workshops, and other learning opportunities to county residents over the age of 60. (Look for our exhibition call for entries in December.)

In the meantime, Oasis is inviting two MAA members to teach in-person or online workshops in conjunction with our show.  You’re invited to submit a proposal to teach an hourlong workshop on a topic of your choice and help us give back to this wonderful community.

Applications are due by Sunday, October 31. Oasis will include the workshops in its print catalog, which goes to press November 12.

• Is this paid? No, this is an unpaid opportunity – a chance to get experience if you are looking to break into teaching, to boost your resume, or to promote other classes and workshops you lead.
• Types of workshops: You may offer an in-person lecture, online lecture, online hands-on class, studio tour, or field trip. For in-person classes, tours and field trips, all participants and instructors are required to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination wear a mask. The classroom is set up for physical distancing, with limited capacity. Instructors are asked to remove their mask during the actual lecture.
• Date: Oasis would like to have one workshop in January or February and one in March or April. Oasis staff will work directly with you to schedule.
• Application: You'll be asked to provide a title, short description of your proposed workshop and a 2-3 sentence bio.
