Spend the morning painting en plein air with fellow MAA members at the award winning Brookside Gardens!  With its colorful plantings, shimmering ponds, and breathtaking landscapes, Brookside Gardens is often described as the jewel of Montgomery Parks.  The 50-acre property features intricately designed gardens with exquisite combinations of color, texture, scent, and scale that merge together to delight the senses – all easily viewed from tranquil walking trails, comfortable benches, and shady gazebos.  No doubt you will find lots of artistic inspiration and subject matter.

Brookside Gardens is situated within Wheaton Regional Park. Included in the gardens are several distinct areas: Aquatic Garden, Azalea Garden, Butterfly Garden, Children’s Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Style Garden, Trial Garden, Rain Garden, and the Woodland Walk. The Formal Gardens areas include a Perennial Garden, Yew Garden, the Maple Terrace, and Fragrance Garden. Brookside Gardens also feature two conservatories for year-round enjoyment. Restrooms are available.

Cost:  Free with registration

Time: We've set the outing for 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. If you'd like more painting time, you can arrive earlier or stay later.

Getting There:  From the Capital Beltway. The simplest is to take the Georgia Avenue exit and go north to Randolph Road. Turn right to go east on Randolph Road and turn right onto Glenallan Avenue at the second traffic light.

Rain date: If the weather is poor, we’ll postpone.  Rain date TBD
