Plein Air Painting: Lilypons Water Garden

Spend the morning painting en plein air with fellow MAA members at a gorgeous water garden located in beautiful Adamstown, Frederick County, Maryland, located less than 40 min from Rockville.

Lilypons Water Gardens is a fourth generation owned nature sanctuary with 250-acres of wetlands to explore and aquatic nursery with a complete selection of water gardening products.  There are many nature trails throughout our property to paint, sketch, hike and take in the unique beauty of the landscape. There are natural ponds with different varieties of waterlilies, lotus and bog plants that will inspire you. And you will also see different species of wildlife, including water birds, raptors, turtles and frogs. Lilypons is also home to many different species of dragonflies and butterflies.  Restrooms available.

Cost: Free with registration

Time: Lilypons has approved our painting time for 9am-2 pm. 

What to bring: Please bring everything you need for the day, including art supplies and equipment, sun protection, insect repellent and food and water. 

Getting There:  From I 270 take Exit 26 and follow RT 80 West for 1.5 miles, turn left onto Park Mills Road for 3.5 miles, turn right onto Lily Pons Road and our entrance is about a mile on the right.

Rain date: If the weather is poor, we’ll postpone.  Rain date TBD.
