Theme for Submissions: Local Inspiration -- Artists are asked to submit art that is influenced or inspired by those things or places encounter in your everyday lives. Unique characteristics of a particular place can find its way into your art; or the crunching of fallen leaves as you step on them can be your inspiration.    

Number of Artworks Allowed:  MAA Members are invited to submit for consideration up to 2 artworks that meet the theme - Local Inspirations. Artists may submit work in any of the following categories: 

• • Natural Landscapes, Maritime, and Seascapes
  • Cityscapes, Townscapes, Urbanscapes 
  • Still Life 
  • Abstract Art 
  • Portraiture - People and Animals 

Eligible Media:  2D works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, pastel, encaustic, hand-pulled prints, drawing/ink mediums, textile and photography.  3D works wall hung works, such as mosaics or fused glass, wood and clay are included in this show.  

Cost: There is no cost to submit your work to for consideration. If your artwork is selected by the curators, a fee of $10 will be required at the time of art drop off. 

Selection Process:  Submitted artwork will be selected by the vineyard owners.  Approximately 18 - 25 selected works will be exhibited for a three month period.  All artwork must be for sale. Windridge will notify artists when work is sold.  Windridge will provide payment to the artist, less a 20% commission. 

Replacement of Sold Artwork:  Sold artworks may be replaced by the artist with a similarly sized piece during the 3 month show period.  Replacement artwork must be done through the MAA Show Manager. Artists are not to contact the staff at Windridge Vineyard to replace artwork.

Theme:  Autumn Colors and Reflections....

One of the most defining characteristics of the fall season is the new colors that fill the landscape with the falling leaves turning to red, yellow, and orange. Van Gogh was struck by the beauty of falling leaves.  Monet 's work Autumn on the Seine used muted autumnal colors mirrored in the water below.  But let's not limit our subject choices to traditional fall landscapes -- there are exciting cityscapes that incorporate the rich colors of fall too.

Judge -- We are honored to have Jordan Bruns award prizes of recognition for this show.   Jordan has been a resident artist in the Chautauqua Tower at Glen Echo Park, Maryland, for the past 15 years. Note: When registering -- For ticket type  - select only For 2D and 3D art registrants. 

Number of Works Allowed:  MAA members are invited to submit:

• Up to 2 artwork entries in either 2D or 3D.  The gallery can accommodate around 110  2D pieces and 10-12 3D works.  
  
• Optional 3rd Work:  Artists may register a 3rd work at the time of show registration.  This 3rd work will be added to the show based on the order of registration if it doesn't fill up by September 24. 
  

Eligible Media:  

• 2D artwork:  Oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, pastel, encaustic, drawing/ink mediums, hand-pulled prints, fused glass, textile-fiber arts, and photography.  All 2D artwork must meet MAA framing requirements and wiring standards.

• 3D art work:  fused glass, mosaic, clay, wood and/or metal.  Sculpture work will be displayed on pedestals or elevated spaces.  (up to 12 total pieces). 

Awards:  There will be 2 categories to be judged in this show; 2 Dimensional work and 3 Dimensional work.   1st, 2nd, 3rd awards will be given in each of the two categories.  Honorable mention awards will be given across both categories.  Awards will be presented by Jordan Bruns at the Meet the Artists on Sunday, October 13, 1:30 - 3:30pm

Volunteers Needed:  Volunteers will be needed for a variety of tasks to support this show.  While registering your artwork - please also check off one of the volunteer tasks for this show.  We will need help with art check in, art hanging and putting up labels, meet the artists, and art pick up.  Thank you for Volunteering.

Glenview Mansion Art Gallery:  The gallery is located at 603 Edmonston Dr. at the Rockville Civic Center.  The gallery is open on weekdays, Monday - Friday 9:00am - 4:30pm.  Please check the  Glenview Mansion website before visiting.

• Art Sales at Glenview:  Glenview Art Gallery sales run about 10-12% of work shown at exhibits. See show prospectus for additional detail about sales and City of Rockville commission.  All works must be for sale.

Theme:  "Exploring Color, Shape, and Texture"  

MAA is pleased to be co-hosting, in conjunction with Bender Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Greater Washington Goldman Art Gallery in Rockville, a new exhibition and sale entitled Exploring Color, Shape, and Texture. 

The gallery is the perfect venue to showcase MAA artists and their unique works of art which, with a wide range of styles and medium are sure to dazzle everyone who visits the exhibit. 

Eligible Media:  

• 2D artwork:  Oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, pastel, encaustic, drawing/ink mediums, hand-pulled prints, fused glass, textile-fiber arts, and photography.  All 2D artwork must meet MAA framing requirements and wiring standards.  See framing guidance FRAMING GUIDANCE.
• 3D art work:  fused glass, mosaic, clay, wood and/or metal.  Sculpture work will be displayed on pedestals or elevated spaces.  (up to 6 total pieces).

Membership: You must be a Montgomery Art Association member in good standing to enter this show.

Number of Works and Sizes: Allowed:  MAA members are invited to submit:

• Two Dimensional Artwork:  1 artwork entry per member.  We will accept 8 works that are up to 48" (that could be a 24x48" or a 48x48") and 55 smaller works of various sizes not to exceed 32" on any side.  The gallery will accommodate approximately 63 wall artworks in total.  We cannot accept anymore 2-D artwork as registration for all 2-D artwork has reached capacity. 
• Three Dimensional Artwork:  1 artwork in 3D sculpture category per member  A total of six 3D sculptures will be accepted in this show.  3D work will be displayed on pedestals or larger sculpture can be shown as a floor piece. We have two remaining slots for 3-D artwork that can be displayed on a pedestal. 
• Optional 2nd artwork  in either 2D or 3D:  Members may register a second work, which will be added to the show in order of registration if space is available.  The show manager will notify members whose second work is accepted soon after registration closes.

MAA Figure Model Sundays continues at The Compass Atelier's NEW LOCATION at The Compass Art Center, 10335 Kensington Parkway, Kensington, MD!  

The Montgomery Art Association and The Compass Atelier are partnering to offer in-person figure model sessions on select Sundays. The 3-hour sessions are moderated but uninstructed, providing artists with focused practice time in the studio. Bring along any drawing or painting media that suits you.

Sessions will include short poses ranging from 2 to 15 minutes, with a final long pose lasting about an hour.  Models usually will be nude or semi-nude unless otherwise indicated in the event details below.  Both MAA members and non-members are welcome to register. MAA members may also register a non-member guest as well (the non-member price will apply). All attendees must be 18 years of age or older. 

We are offering morning AND afternoon sessions on each select Sunday. Morning sessions are 9:00 am to noon ET; Afternoon sessions are 1:00 pm ET to 4:00 pm ET.  

Cost of each session to register:

We are thrilled to announce that the Montgomery Art Association is hosting Beverly Hunter's Magical Mixed Media Mosaic Workshop in collaboration with the Oasis Art Gallery on Sunday, December 8th!

No previous experience is required, all you need is a passion for color, texture and an openness to creativity, and originality!

“With this hands-on experience, I hope to inspire everyone to love the most addictive art form ever!” ~ Beverley Hunter

You’ll have a selection of substrates to work on and a wide variety of inspiring materials to choose from. Feel free to mix and match, experimenting with ceramic tiles, jewelry, glass gems, charms, rhinestones, beads, and found objects! Get a sneak peek into what years of collecting materials looks like!

We’ll cover an introduction to adhesives, sources for materials and substrates, and the 3 basic elements of mosaic art: cutting, gluing, and grouting. Some work outside of class will be required - you’ll receive grout to complete your piece when it is done.

By the end, you'll take home a one-of-a-kind masterpiece—your very own creation!

Join us and bring a friend for an afternoon of creative exploration, fun, and learning.  The workshop is tailored to all art skill levels.  We can't wait to see you  there!

• Safety goggles (some will be available, but bring your own if possible)

Workshop Instructor:  Beverley received her Associates Degree in Graphic Design, Textile Design, and Fine Art from St. Albans College of Art and Design, St. Albans, England, in 1985. She then received a Bachelor of Arts with Honors Degree in Graphic Design from Canterbury College of Art/Kent Institute of Art & Design, Kent, England, in 1988.

Beverley uses many types of media in her mosaics, including glass, ceramics, beads, tiles, and unique found treasures. Because her education and professional background include graphic design, composition is in her nature. She applies this in a 3-dimensional way, creating a detailed extravaganza of tactile shape and color, which is supremely rewarding to her. Beverley is thrilled when people enjoy the artwork she has gained such satisfaction in creating.

Morning sessions are 9:00 am to noon ET; Afternoon sessions are 1:00 pm ET to 4:00 pm ET.  Each session costs $10 per person per session to register.  You must be an MAA member to register; however, you may also register a non-member guest as well. MAA is again delighted to return to the Oasis Art Gallery at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. This show is the seventh MAA-Oasis collaboration, with 65 works of the artists' choice on display.

Prospectus: Please refer to the SHOW PROSPECTUS  for all show requirements. 

Eligible media: 

• 2D artwork: Oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, pastel, drawing/ink mediums, encaustic, hand pulled prints, fused glass, textile-fiber arts, and photography.
  
• 3D artwork: 3D artwork to include fused glass, mosaic, clay, wood and metal.  All 3D works must be wired for hanging on the wall with picture hooks. 
  

Requirements:  There is no specific theme for this show.  The subject is your choice. Your work must be between 9x12" and 28x28" framed and may not weigh more than 15 pounds. 

Number of pieces allowed: One entry per member. There will be a total of 65 pieces in this show.  Members can add a second artwork during registration which will be added to the show (in order of registration) if space is available.  You will be contacted by the show manager if your second artwork is added to the show.

Theme Submission:  IMAGINE is the theme for the winter show at Windridge. We encourage all member artists to unleash their creativity and share their unique perspectives that we know will touch the hearts and minds of all who see their work.   Degas claims that "art is not what you see but what makes others see." We encourage artists to interprete "imagine" in your own unique way.  

Number of Artworks Allowed:  MAA Members are invited to submit for consideration up to 2 artworks with the theme of IMAGINE in mind.  Artists may submit work in any of the following categories: 

• • Natural Landscapes, Maritime, and Seascapes
  • Cityscapes, Townscapes, Urbanscapes 
  • Still Life 
  • Abstract Art 
  • Portraiture - People and Animals 

Eligible Media: 

• 2D works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, pastel, encaustic, hand-pulled prints, drawing/ink mediums, textile and photography.  
• 3D works wall hung works, such as mosaics or fused glass, wood and clay are included in this show.  
  

Cost: There is no cost to submit your work to for consideration. If your artwork is selected by the Windrige Vineyard curators, a fee of $10 will be required at the time of art drop off. 

Selection Process:  Submitted artwork will be selected by the vineyard owners.  Approximately 18 - 25 selected works will be exhibited for a three month period.  All artwork must be for sale. Windridge will notify artists when work is sold.  Windridge will provide payment to the artist, less a 20% commission. 

Replacement of Sold Artwork:  Sold artworks may be replaced by the artist with a similarly sized piece during the 3 month show period.  Replacement artwork must be done through the MAA Show Manager. Artists are asked not to contact the staff at Windridge Vineyard to replace artwork.

Show Theme:   The theme for this show is  Brilliant Brushstrokes.  This show invites artists to share their enchanting exploration into the world of creativity. This is a journey where every brush stroke tells a story - a place where imagination takes flight.
